Parade of Lights

Title:

Description:

Parade of Lights

Halifax Holiday Parade

Student volunteers annually take up the challenge to design and build the Dalhousie float for the Halifax Parade of Lights. This collaboration envisioned the creation of “light waves” as an energetic infusion into the parade. Transferring bicycle pedal power through an arrangement of gears, electro-luminescent sculptures spun their way through city streets as crowds of people cheered on. Trailers were constructed of re-purposed industrial shelving, bicycle parts donated by various organizations in the city and the effort made possible with a grant from Dalhousie University.
